DIY Reusable Bread Bag
1 – Cut Your Fabrics
On this sewing tutorial, you’ll be making a linen bag for homemade bread. As a loaf of bread size is about 12 inches round, I will give you the measurements to make a bigger bag, so it can store one or two loafs of bread.
Cut two pieces of linen fabric of 14 x 17 inches, and one piece of cotton ribbon of 32 inches.
2 – Overlock Stitching All Four Sides
As a first step, overlock stitching on all four sides of each piece, as linen fabrics tends to fray, this step will help you to work on this project without the need to worry about the fabric fraying.
Lay the two linen pieces together, pretty side out, and stitch on three sides 1/4 inch seam allowance, the stitching should start from the 1 1/2 inch from the top on both sides, reinforce the start and the end of the stitching.
3 – Stitch On French Seam
Turn the bag out, and press to flat the seams with a warm iron, stitch on the three sides of the bag 5/8 seam allowance, reinforce the stitching at the beginning and at the end.
The French Seam on this project will help to prevent any fraying on the bag, and it will keep clean your bread all the time.
4 – Stitch On Both Ends Sides On The Top
Fold to the inside 1/4 inch seam on both sides on each piece of the bag on the top, stitch on.
5 – Stitch On Both Sides On The Top Of The Bread Bag
Work on each side at the time, fold the top to the back 1/2 inch, and stitch on straight, reinforce the stitching at the beginning and at the end.
Don’t stitch on the sides of each piece.
6 – How To Feed The Ribbon Through The Drawstring Section
Attach a safety pin on one end of the ribbon and feed it through the drawstring section, start on one side of the bag, and continue to the other side of the bag. This time you can put just one cotton ribbon, or you can put two if you want.
The cotton ribbon should go all the way on both drawstring sides of the bag.
8 – Make A Knot On The Cotton Ribbon
Remove the safety pin and make a knot at the end of both ends of the cotton ribbon.

Hi, this was a really in depth and helpful post on how to make a bread bag. I did not know that linen was the best material to use so will keep this in mind. My daughter loves sewing so have passed on this link to her as some really good reviews here also.
I love to do stuff by myself. And anything that is reusable will definitely resound with me. This bread bag seems super simple to make. And I could choose some very aesthetic materials to make it awesome. Thank you very much for giving me this idea. I can wait to surprise my family with a cool bag in the center of our table.
