It Sews Quietly And Well
Any sewer will notice how well this model sews and how quietly it works, allowing you to listen to some music while you work in the sewing room to have a chat with other sewers at the sewing classes.
The Negatives
I think this is a quality sewing machine that will stay in the sewing room for many years and you’ll be sewing with it many different sewing projects, but as many models, there’s always a few things you can’t sew with this model.
It’s Not Good With Thick Material
This model is not made to sew well with thick materials as denim, canvas, leather or vinyl, or trying to sew many layers of fabric.
You need to know this issue in advance if you want to make some sewing projects with this type of thick materials, if you want to work with these materials, you might want to take a look to a Heavy Duty Sewing Machine.
It Doesn’t Have An Extension Table
If you want to work on large sewing projects like making curtains, table cloths or quilts, you might want to have an extension table, as this model doesn’t come with one, you need to buy one separately.
It Doesn’t Have A Protective Carring Case.
If you have in your plans to attend to some sewing or quilting classes, you need to buy a protective carrying case to take your sewing machine to your classes or workshops.
Can I Do Free Motion Quilting With This Sewing Machine?
Yes, you can, as it comes with a foot for quilting included and you also get a plate to cover the feed dogs.

Singer sewing machines have always had a good reputation and this little model looks ideal for the sewer like myself who sews every now and then for fun and for mending purposes.
I have an old black and gold singer that my gran gave me and it still works perfectly, although I must admit that I do enjoy using my more modern sewing machine for everyday jobs. For thick materials and tough jobs, there is nothing the old singer can’t handle. That is why I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one.
The protective carry case isn’t a big thing for me as I keep my machines in an open out cabinet in any case, so I am sure that won’t be an issue for most.
Hello Alex, this sewing machine got me very impressed and excited. Maybe there are advanced sewing machines, this is the most advanced one I have ever read about and I love it totally. The Singer 7258 Sewing Machine is really amazing and smart. I love the great features that come with it, I haven’t seen any like it. No wonder it has won two times Ina row. It truly deserves the rating you have given it.
Regards!
Hello Alex, I must say that this article is very helpful and informative. I heard about Singer 7258 Sewing Machine a week ago and I saw it as a great gift for my mother who enjoys sewing, she has an old machine so I think that this model would suit her perfectly. I will definitely get it through Amazon, thank you for sharing such useful information about this product.
I thank you Daniel, I’m sure your mother will be happy to get the Singer 7258 Stylist sewing machine.
Good review! I also have an old Singer at home (maybe 3 decades old) who was used by my grandmother to sew. But not anymore, because she passed away.
And after seeing your review, I thought of having 1 for general sewing needs plus embroidery. However, I want to ask related to the name computerized, whether this tool can really use a computer to do embroidery?
Thanks Alex
Hi Kylie,
Thanks for reading my post, sadly this sewing machine can’t be connected to a computer to do embroidery, there are other Singer models that are designed to do embroidery and to be connected to the computer.
The Singer 7258 Sewing Machine has a lot going for it. It has a nice introductory CD which shows you how to use all the attachments that come with it. The Singer is compact, lightweight, and operates quietly compared to the heavier models. The variety of stitches is another nice feature, but the one drawback would be that it’s not designed for the heavier materials like denim, etc.
JR
Hi JR Bible
Thanks so much for stopping to read my article today, you’re right when you say this sewing machine has an introductory CD to show how this sewing machine works, you can also watch some videos from Singer on YouTube.
Yes, this sewing machine is not designed and made to work well for sewing projects using heavy and thicker materials. There’s a sewing machine to work with this type of materials, the Heavy Duty.
If I was to buy this for an lady pensioner with arthritis in both hands, how would she cope with using it? I know you mentioned it’s quite portable but would that be still considered portable for someone who might be frail?
Would you recommend I go for a more basic option than this for that reason?
Hi Dave
I follow a sewing and quilting group on Facebook where there are a few ladies who sew and who have arthritis, they often comment about the problems they have at the time to work with their sewing machines, as they can’t work regularly as they wish they could.
I can’t answer your question, it will be better if you or the lady contact to the lady’s doctor and ask the doctor if she can carry some weight, and if she can work with a sewing machine.
It will be better if you get a professional answer to this question from her doctor.
