To adjust the stitch width use the dial on top of the machine just above the length dial.

Drop-In Bobbin System and Threading

To thread the bobbin just follows the guides on top of the machine, then with the thread in the bobbin push bobbin spindle to the right, and press on the foot control to wind.

Once finished winding remove bobbin by moving spindle to the left, and spindle needs to be to the left for machine to sew.

This machine has the top loading bobbin system so just remove cover and drop it in with thread coming off counterclockwise and follow the thread guides, leaving about 6 inches of thread out.

Threading the machine is basicly the same as other machines, by following the numbered arrows down to the needle, and as there is no automatic needle threader you thread by hand from front to back of the needle, leaving about 6 inches of thread out, and thread can be cut with a manual thread cutter at the end of the machine.

The machine has the thread tension dial on top, and 90 % of your sewing will be set between 4 and 5.

Also turn the hand wheel at the back of the machine to bring up the bobbin thread, then place the top and bottom thread under the presser foot towards the back of the machine.

Once you get used to setting up the threads, it should only take a few minutes to be up and sewing, and best to try it out on a scrap piece of fabric first.

  1. Hi, this is an amazing review of the Singer 4411. I don’t know how to use any of the machines. Many years ago someone was teaching me and I made a couple of bags out of some interesting material, and that was the only time I did something myself. Although, it is on my TO DO lists to get a Singer machine and learn how to make some of my fav designs. My mom though used to sew a lot. I don’t know what model we have at home but it’s not this one.

Now if I was to decide to check of sewing and buying a Singer now, would the Singer 4411 be suitable for the pure beginners?

    Thanks

  2. This is a very good one and I have to tell you that I really like the fact that this one is not so automatic but it is also still computerised. I think this singer company is really doing. Avoid job. Now you are making it a little harder for me to know which is the best Machine to buy for my mum.

  4.  Hello there! this is an amazing review you have got here. In my own experience, I have found that even at top speed the machine is very stable and is able to maintain very good stitch quality. Speed control is also fairly good with the foot pedal.

Thanks for sharing this review with me.

  5. Unfortunately I’ve had only trouble with my machine. It arrived with the Bobbi wonder broken. After waiting 2 months for that to be repaired, I got it home and I cannot adjust the tension to save my life. It is also extremely loud. It’s unfortunate, because I wanted to like this machine.

    • Hi Lora
I understand you, it’s a shame you got your new sewing machine with the bobbin wonder broken and you had to wait 2 months to get it repaired and then you have been having problems with the tension, to adjust the tension right, you might watch a video or two on how to set a mechanical sewing machine at home, I know by experience it can take lots of time to get it right, in the past when I was having hard time to adjust tension right, I used to call the technician and he was nice to teach me how to do it by myself, about the noise your machine makes, I know the Singer heavy duty machine is loud as you work on it, you might want to try to put a towel under to see if it helps. I hope you can get your machine tension right soon, so you can go back to your sewing projects soon.
