DIY Diapers Bag Step by Step

Step 1 – Cut out All The Fabric Pieces

Prewash and press all the fabrics before you cut out the pieces for this tutorial, you can measure the fabric with a measuring tape and cut out the two pieces of fabric with a good pair of scissors, but you can also do this step by using a rotary cutter, a patchwork ruler and a cutting mat.

Use a good pair of scissors to cut out the velcro.

Step 2 – Trace A Line On Each End Of the Fabric

Pick one fabric to be on the outside of the diapers bag and the other fabric will be the lining.

On the right side of the fabric for the outside, trace a line on each end, on the center of 3 inches long, at 2 inches from the edge, you can use a pencil or a marker for fabrics.

Step 10 – Top Stitching

Top stitching (1/4 inch) both pockets edge, it might be tricky to place the project on the sewing machine, but as the project has not any lining between the two fabrics, it’s easy to work on this step.

Reinforce the top stitching at the begining and at the end.

  1. Woww, this diy diaper bag looks so easy! My husband has gifted me a toyota sewing machine on my birthday 3 years ago and he’s waiting for me to be able to make a project using the machine. But up until now, I was only able to make homemade table napkins from old bedsheets. And some clothes fixing. This looks like a very doable project. Thank you for sharing.

  2. You have encouraged me to make my own diaper bag. So I have researched what I could put in a diaper bag. Here is my list:
    A portable changing pad.
Diapers (1 to 2 for every hour you plan to be out)
Travel pack of disposable diaper wipes.
Plastic bags to wrap up unclean diapers or hold wet clothes.
    Diaper rash cream.
Cloths for burping or for covering boys during changes.
A small bottle of hand sanitizer.
    Change of clothes for baby.
